Readers’ Roundup June 7, 2025: Citizens are Speaking Up

NOTICE! There is no Spokane legislative meeting this coming Monday, JUNE 9. INSTEAD, a City TOWN HALL is being held ON SPOKANE’S SOUTH HILL at MLK Jr. Community Center 500 S. Stone St., Room: Multi-Purpose Room at 6 pm.

CITIZENS MAY SPEAK! HERE IS HOW TO SIGN UP AND ATTEND.

Thank you to our Not-So-Silent Majority!

Here is a sample harvesting of what people are saying around the social media pages ..

“Omg I swear if this passes I’m going to camp in front of Wilkerson’s house and I will bring my dogs too….”

“What a farce”

“Part of why Brown scattered them into the neighborhoods. Makes it look like downtown is cleaned up. But it's just geography.”

“City Council just threw out the Building and Health codes by authorizing no standards for both being required.”

“They come here because they are welcomed, enabled and used as pawns to siphon taxpayer dollars. They don’t come because of services to get clean. Betsy isn’t providing help or solutions. The camping pass isn’t within the councils ability to instate. Period. End.”

“They are actively trying to create or bring more homeless people into the area…it’s quite obvious that this is an attempt to get more homeless dollars brought into this community and disperse those dollars to their supporters in these local NGOs.”

“So basically what Wilkerson is saying is that Spokane is literally a dumping ground during the Summer months when individuals and families look to head out and spend time enjoying the public parks. I think that's piss poor planning! Keep an eye out for used syringes and don't go barefoot in the parks.”

“Completely insane.”

“all our parks to be Brownville Parks so move on in and stay a spell.”

“syringes, foils, poop..”

“I'm going to Lisa's! We just had a crazy lady camping in her van by my house over 2 weeks in a No Parking zone! MANY reports!! Cop finally came today and just told her to move. Then she had 2 guys there with hood up. Not sure if they got it going or it was towed. I said to cop I'm sure it wouldn't have taken this long in front of Lisa's house!

“SO CRAZY! Anyone want to go camp at the Mayor's? A van just took over 3 weeks to get moved and it was in a No parking zone!!”

It is clear that the so-called “response” to fulfilling the Citizens Vote on Proposition 1 by Lisa Brown and the Spokane “Progressive Majority” is ill-conceived and a continuation of the State of Homeless Industrial Complex.

We know better.
